Hi
I bought a jawbone from John Lewis last year . I rely on it heavily as it allows me to be indepdanf to wake up on my own as I am deaf.
I had to return it to John Lewis as it stopped working for me. I upgraded my jawbone to a Fitbit charge hr. now it's been working fine for me for the last 9 months. However it has bugun to split on the band. I contacted the company and they said to destroy it and send picture to show proof with name and date on. They would send a bank transfer in 6 weeks time. 'Now I can't do that as I rely on it to wake me up.
I tweeted John Lewis and they said to call in store which I did on my way home from work. 8 didn't have the device and receipt with me. !but I did ask them and tell them of my predicament. They said bring it in and go to tech support and they will help you as it's still covered under the 2 year garuntee I said even if I exchanged it over to the Fitbit and they said yes.
Now the original charge hr isn't sold by the store anymore so what would they do. Would they change it for the newer model or am I screwed .
I have been wearing it normally and just for bed so no missuse
Thank you.

Not sure why you are asking for the opinions of an anonymous forum on what JL will do. Surely the only way of finding that out is to take the thing into the store and give them a chance to help you.0 -
Go in with the item and see what is offered.0

How did you pay for the item?I can't find my receipt what can I do
If it was on a card, sort find a copy of the card statement showing the purchase and take that into the store and use it as proof of purchase.
It will mean a bit more work for the staff to find the sale details but provided that they know and understand the law regarding consumer sales, they should accept the statement.
If you paid by cash then you are totally reliant on the goodwill of the store. If you know the exact day that you bought it, they may be willing to check their sales records for you and if this is the case it would be best to go in when they are not too busy.0 -
I've had 6 replacement Charge HRs in my time. I wouldn't spend a penny on another one.
They've recently released a new model which is probably why they said to destroy it and send money to replace it. With my last replacement a few months ago I was limited to sizes and colours, as they're no longer making them.
If they're offering you a full refund (Fitbit) then you'll have to go with that and get a replacement. I appreciate that you need it for a service but unfortunately they are not sold as a devise to wake you up so wouldn't really need to take that inconvenience into account.
my experience with Fitbit is mixed. They're good at sending replacements but that's only because they're crap quality and fail so often in my opinion. I'd suggest getting a Phillips Hue light, you can set them to come on at certain times and different brightness which could help wake you up. I do it myself, I'm not deaf but I now have no alarm clock and a light to wake me up. I'd get money from Fitbit and spend it on something better0 -

A deep sleeper due to deafness vibration works best for me.

If you bought the original item online and or used a JL reward card then all your receipts will be in your online account.
Just yesterday JL replaced an electrical item I bought in Dec '15, I logged onto my account in the shop and the chap there printed off my receipt.
Otherwise a card payment on a statement (showing JL) would help.
In my very recent experience JL are excellent at sorting things out.
PS - there are loads of much cheaper alarm clocks for the deaf which use vibration, my very deaf mum has a Shake-Awake which goes under her pillow. There are other ones which you use like a Fitbit Charge on your wrist.0 -
I've tried under pillow ones they don't work for me.
