Wish you'd not mentioned the samosa thing
I've shortlisted samosas in the last week to make some, just the filling - not bothered with faffing about with shapes and pastries....PN im frightened of deep frying anything. My mother put the fear of god into me about the dangers of deep frying pans. I've never had one.
In the past when I've been able to use hobs, I've still never dared turn on more than one ring at a time ... and the sight of them petrifies me.0 -
Belly pork was naughty but incredibly nice and there is a portion left which I'll have on Monday night. I made sweet potato wedges to go with it - only found out via the hullabaloo over 10 a day that they count as a veg so quids in as I eat them quite a lot
There's a spoonful of tomatoes left as well so I think toms on toast (thanks Karcher) will feature tomorrow.
Another thing I do with sausagemeat is either crumble it through tomato sauce to have with pasta or make in to meatballs. Would that be an option for you PN?
Katkin - shame about the weight gain. I suppose one of the problems with the extra fruit & veg is that it adds calories possibly more we probably think at times (especially if like me you like a dod of butter on veg). No tatties for Lent my your brave.........

I eat a lot of tomato sauce based chilli/similar stuff - and a lot of meatballs ....so am looking forward to some simple, honest, sausageyness.0 -

Willowx - home made bread with lashings of butter I hope? After all you must of burned loads of calories on your outing this morning;)
Had a crust and a rather thick slice hot with butter as soon as it was out of the tin. Just about to do a couple of rashers of bacon to have a sarnie with ketchup. Never been one for counting calories but my pedometer reckons 19,471 steps today which sounds like it deserves a treat.
Mrs Darlington's jams
I thought I recognised the name but was sure it wasn't the marmalade I get, turns out she (or her factory!) make the mint jelly my butcher's sell. This is the first jar of mint jelly I've ever had, got it in January, still deciding if I'll get another got nothing against it just not striking me as a must have. I'll probably buy it as a whim at some random point in the future.
On the subject of actifrys I have many more kitchen gadgets than my kitchen size justifies but that is one that's never really tempted me for some reason. Saying that I don't eat a lot of fried foods so perhaps that's why.0 -
At 2am I had a pitta bread with cheese/branston.... but that was supposed to be today's breakfast.
It's raining and I really don't fancy unrolling a sheet of pastry, cutting it, making a pie and baking it. Maybe I will get the motivation for that from somewhere later.0 -
Morning you lovely lot
Last night I ended up 'cooking' fish finger, lettuce and mayo sandwiches in freshly baked crusty baguette...simple but tasty.
No idea what's being 'cooked for one' today. I still have 2 portions of dhal in the freezer cooked ages ago and taking up valuable freezer space...but I just don't fancy that atm. I also have some plain yogurt that is OOD and could be used to make flatbreads.
Thing is even if I make them I have no room in the freezer for them!
....oh the joys of CFO :rotfl:'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Oneski groundhog meal tonight ...LO sausages mash and beans. Not complaining too much though it was nice. Lemon drizzle cake for pud0

I combined flakey pastry and sausagemeat to make a plait-like blob.
Won't do that again. Too much faffing/waiting - and now I have a lot to eat. It's better to buy ready made packs of sausage rolls and reheat them in 10 minutes.
Oven needs a bit of a clean too as cooking anything for 25-30 minutes at 200C involving oil leaves an oily residue everywhere.... annoying.
Not eating it with anything - there's a mountain of it so I just want to eat it and never see the back of it again.... so I've got a big bowl and a fork.0 -

Good luck with that PN....it's very annoying when you make the effort to cook then regret that decision and have loads of clearing up and eating to do as a result!'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
