Government petition to bring down the cost of private fines

Having been a recent victim of a private parking fine, I think its disgraceful that companies are allowed to apply £100 fines for minor parking infringements.
I have started a petition on the government web site to campaign for a much lower cap - specifically 5 times the amount of under payment in the case of a pay and display carpark - not 100 times the underpayment which is what happened to me

Please sign the petition and share it as widely as possible, it can be found on the government petitions web site .
As a newbie I'm not allowed to post links (Grrr) but if you google the government petition web site (petition.parliament.uk), and then once there search for "Limit the amount private parking enforcement companies can charge. " it should appear.
It needs 10,000 signatures to force a government response so I need all the help I can get!

It needs 100,000 signatures not 10,000. You will struggle to get that many.

Comes with a free bag of fish and chips. :)

@OP, admire your efforts to do something on this, but it's been tried many, many times and come to nothing. Even this high profile effort to galvanise people, which included several TV appearances, radio interviews and front page national press coverage, got fewer than 50,000 people signed up.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

A similar petition was done last year by Barry Beavis and over 10,000 was reached.
This resulted in the DCLG saying they were looking into it.
To this day the DCLG use the word "shortly"

Here is the link for you but you will need to do a major marketing on this if its to go anywhere and that's hard work

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/177176

If there is to be another petition, it should be for Marcus Jones MP of the DCLG to resign. Jones is the guy who keeps saying "shortly"

Couple this with Theresa May being in total denial of the problems in the UK I wish you luck and I have signed it

Since when did the Govt allow any kind of private "fines"?

Rather than start a petition that will almost certainly be written-off because it is based based on a shaky understanding of the facts, the OP should have come here and learned the true situation and how to challenge it effectively.

Besides, we don't want the private parking industry legitimised and allowed to operate within limits - we want them wiped-off off the face of the earth.

 the problem with wipe off's is they clog up the sewers but as that's where the PPC's and their idiotic solicitors hang out, will not make much difference, rats can pop up anywhere
