Hi, it might be somewhat offtopic, but I hope you can help me.
The building company who was conducting council works nearby finally responded to me and they want to agree the settlement for the damage to our flat. I just want this to end as soon as possible, so I am not seeking "moral" or "nuisance" compensation, but just want the compensation for the decoration works required to cover the damage and get my flat into pre-construction state. So, we have couple of cracks to the wall in question and quite a lot of mortar from the exposed bricks fireplace was lost during the works. I think it is fair to ask to compensate for one wall cracks plastering and repaint and partial contribution to the fireplace restoration/bricks repointing (they can argue that the the state of the fireplace was not good from the beginning, so I am not asking for full costs of the restoration). Now, I have not idea how much works like that cost in London now, any ballpark figures? They hired a surveyor on "our behalf", but I am not quite confident that he is impartial and want to know the approximate numbers just to be sure.

Dulux trade is the best"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

He-he it's all very funny, but I like literally have no idea. I don't have any builders contacts, would they charge for a quote visit? So far we managed with DIY and for the basement damproofing called specialized companies (there are not many on the market), but with builders/decorators there are zillions of them and all I hear are horror stories.0
