Euro car parks

We are in NI and a friends car has been issued with a parking notice, asking for the driver, does this have to be done here? Can they ignore, they are sure that they paid for the whole day..

The Newbies FAQ thread is always up to date (unlike the "official" MSE article!), and is the first port of call for everyone before starting any new threads here

But edited by me only the other week - that 2014 date fools a lot of people - but a sticky thread must be 'current' advice. And it is.

FYI we have the parking receipt, the pcn states in at 8.05am and out at 5.21 pics of number plate supplied. The parking receipt says paid at 8.07 to 5.07 so obviously charged for the late exit, due to being hemmed in.. so gonna advise to ignore..

If you start engaging with scammers you will begin a pointless chain of communication and bluff from unreasonable money hungry muppets. Why do this if you don't need to?

Hmmm...I doubt very much that the ANPR timing is synchronised with the timer on the P&D machines.

How exactly can you have been driving in at the entrance at 8.05 yet have managed to drive round and find a space and park, then get out and lock the car, go over (and queue?) at the P&D machine, feed in the coins and get a ticket spewing out within two minutes flat, unless you are Mo Farah?!

I do suspect many of these sites have the timer on the machines set behind the ANPR by just a minute or so...giving the scum an excuse to issue a PCN. We have seen spurious timings like this alleged before and I helped with a case where the machine looked to be a good 5 minutes out, compared with the ANPR.

As this is in NI and you are safe to ignore, do you fancy testing it? Drive in and get another one, recording the time of arrival on a phone camera held by a passenger who then walks to the machine and compares the time there and records the true time that the ticket is purchased. Then drive out ten minutes after expiry according to the ticket, recording the correct time as you go past the ANPR cameras.

Make a video of that for Youtube, keep the pay and display ticket as well, then compare it to the PCN that arrives. My bet is, two minutes out, perhaps deliberately.
