Worktops next to AGA

Hi all, advice needed please
I had the worktop guy out to template up a quartz worktop (white/very light, probably Unistone Onyx or something like that). However he said that next to an AGA it might discolour due to the heat and advised against it, and suggested a darker colour or grante. Has anyone ever heard of this? I have rung around a few other companies today and they are saying they haven't heard of this before.
I was hoping that the airgap either side of the AGA might be enough, it's about 8mm. We do leave the AGA on standby all day - it's an electric/night storage type so there will be constant heat, but I didn't think it would be excessive.
Does anyone have quartz worktops next to an AGA perchance....? :money:

I can't comment on your actual question but I would ask if you think a modern looking quartz worktop will go well with a traditional looking AGA?
If it were my kitchen I would probably consider a more traditional style worktop.
Just a thought. We all have different equally valid opinions on such things. Perhaps your idea will look really nice.0 -
In my opinion it looks fine:

Nothing to add to this thread, but that kitchen is beautiful :T0
