Occasional touchpad/cursor problems.

I've had my new Lenovo laptop about three weeks now, and by and large, it's working fine.
However, just occasionally I'll click on something (using the touch pad) and everything goes crazy - the cursor is all over the place and I cannot control it, the webpage goes smaller, other pages appear, parts of the webpage turn blue, etc.
I've tried changing options with mouse properties, e.g. buttons, pointers, pointer options, but it still happens every now and again.
I suppose I could take it back to the retailer (Argos) because it's new, but in truth I'm mostly happy with it, and as I've said, it only appears to be happening occasionally, and everything seems to right itself after a few moments craziness.
Any ideas please what could be causing it and what I can do to solve the problem?
Thank you.

First thing I do when things start to go oddly is to run a malware scan like Malwarebytes. It could be a driver issue, in which case I use Driver Booster and if you get from here is a perfectly safe bit of kit http://filehippo.com/search?q=Driver+Booster+Free
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Look at Control Panel -> Mouse -> try all tabs
for an option which says something like "Disconnect the touch-pad while I'm typing", and turn this option on if it's off.

Wild cursor movement can often be down to inadvertent contact with the touch-pad.

If that doesn't fix the problem, check on the Lenovo website for newer touchpad (and maybe keyboard) drivers.
