Just a very quick question....NHS unpaid leave and pension

I am NHS worker, will be 35 years unbroken service this July, intending to retire August 2018, Full time worker.

Have an urgent need to take a week's unpaid leave - there is a very sensitive situation I need to deal with which doesn't mean I am sick, and as our team is so small only one person can have leave at one time - but if I took unpaid leave then the funds would be there to backfill my shifts,

If I take 1 weeks unpaid leave will it have any effect on my pension when I finish August 2018 please?

I suggest that you click on the edit button then on advanced and change the title to include "NHS" and "unpaid leave" since this will increase the chance of those who know about this seeing your question.

unlikely, it just means when they tot up your reckonable service it will be, for example, 35 years and xxx days, but in your case it'll be 35 years and (xxx-5) days, shouldn't have any practical effect.
