Can't get into PC

My PC, running Win7, won't accept my password.

It's coming up with, "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded"

I'm using the correct password, but.........??
David.

  • Have you got Caps Lock on?

    Maybe it is case sensitive.

Do you have another password associated to a Microsoft account? If so, try that.

The usual error message when you put the wrong password in is, "The user name or password is incorrect". This is different.

I do have another Microsoft account, but how do I access it on the PC? It's coming up with the username which is used for that computer, therefore looking for the relevant password.

I've had the same error message on two Win 10 machines, both with local passwords. Logging in with my Microsoft account password gave me access.

Are there any alternative log in options shown? I use Win 7 at work but can't remember exactly what you get.

It is not a password problem - your profile has been corrupted.
You obviously have an alternative way of connecting so follow the following procedure.

Here is youtube video on how to fix it

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rT4ESA2Unng

There are a number of fixes available - I have used this a number of times on different machines and it worked fine.

Just follow it very carefully and view it twice

Here is link to MS on this ... Method 1
