E.ON smart meter and E7 readings
Up until mid December last year I had an old analogue Economy 7 electricity meter (& Radio teleswitch).
My usage was totally unsuitable for E7, but that wasn't a problem because E.ON, my supplier, let me have a single rate tariff and just combined the two readings.
In December the analogue meter was replaced with a digital smart meter (Secure Liberty 100) which reports (by pressing 9 on its keypad or checking the remote display) a single rate of kWh.
I've noticed, when checking the 'meter reading history' on the E.ON website, that day and night rates are still being recorded. Presumably there is enough granularity in the smart meter's output to split it.
Unfortunately I'll be parting ways with E.ON within the month, and when requested I'll be providing my new supplier with the single reading from the meter.
Are E.ON likely to dispute the transfer if they get a single reading when they have been tracking two?

Called E.ON and apparently it is a dual rate meter, even if there's nothing to indicate that anywhere.
Iresas E7 tarrif doesn't look too bad fortunately, but hopefully they'll still let me have a single rate.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux0 -
What happens when you press 6 ?0

Yeah, that shows both rates, the lady from E.ON told me about it too. Would have been nice to get some sort of documentation for the meter when it was installed but I suppose most customers don't care about stuff like that anyway.
I'm pretty annoyed though, one of the main reasons I wanted a new meter in the first place was to get rid of dual rate. I suppose it's my own fault for assuming a so called 'smart' device that can record the reading every 15 minutes could serve both roles and would just need remote reprogramming with the rates and times when the tariff changed. Or are they all like that?3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux0 -
Good morning Raxiel,
I'm sorry to see that you've decided to leave us.
When you have a meter exchange when your meter has reached the end of it's life, it would normally be like for like, so as you already had and economy 7 meter, it would be replaced with economy 7, (as it has been with your smart meter).
I can't speak for other suppliers, but we're able to and happy to bill economy 7 meters on a one rate tariff if that's what the customer would like and if that's best for them.
We will still need both of the meter reads and we then calculate the bill on a single rate tariff.
As you've decided to change supplier and you have an economy 7 meter, you'll need to provide both of the meter reads to your new supplier to enable them to send them to us. We can then produce an accurate final bill for you.
I'm sorry I don't know if your new supplier will be able to bill you on a one rate tariff, but it's worth an ask.
I hope this helps.
Thank you

Good morning Helena,
Thanks for your response.
As I mentioned to Malc in another thread, I don't really want to leave, and I accept I'll have to pay more this year, but a 36% increase on top of the removal of rewards was just too much.
Iresa come in with a 16% increase over v19, if E.ON had been able to manage even 25% over v19 I don't think I would have left.
I know you and Malc don't set tariffs and can only offer feedback to those that do, but I did want to say that I do value the online service I've received from E.ON, but but not for much more than a fiver a month on the bill.
Regarding the meter, It's my own fault for not clarifying what I wanted/would receive, but fortunately Iresa have confirmed they will still combine readings and let me pay at a single rate.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Morning Raxiel,
You're very welcome
I understand why you feel the need to leave, you have to find the best price you can.
Malc and I have been feeding back and we continue to do so.
It's very kind of you to say how much you've valued the online service and we're always here if you do need us in the future.
Thank you
