First Utility Smart Meter
I must be the only FU customer that hasn't had any problem with FU - until now. I joined them back in 2009 and they installed their smart meter, after an initial hiccup for the first few weeks, the meter reported 48 readings every day back to FU and they appeared to be accurate. I could download all these readings and track my usage, calculate and thence check my monthly bills, see the effect of switching from incandescent / CFL to LED lighting etc etc. Their tariffs were one of the cheapest available, so I've stuck with them ever since.
However last October they changed to a new billing system without telling me. It appears that they no longer take smart meter readings and I'm supposed to submit my own readings from now on. I can no longer download the readings. This defeats the main point of being with them, and when my contract runs out in a few months time I will be switching.

Wierd, I am a First Utility customer with a smart electric meter and they are still downloading the readings. Did they give you a reason?0

No explanation other than "[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]once we've moved your account from the old billing platform to the new one it has reflected on your online account. Which means that the information that you used to see are no longer available."
Which IMHO is unacceptable. Maybe they haven't moved you yet.

:mad::eek:
I've just received a reply from FU which reads, in part
"Looking into your account the meter on your account isn't registered as a smart meter therefore we would request readings from yourself every month. I can re-organise a new smart meter to be fitted if you like. I apologise if this causes yourself any issues."
Where do they think they've been getting their readings from for the past 7 years? I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. I have some 125,595 readings in a spreadsheet (48 per day from August 2009 to October 2016). I think I'll try one more email suggesting they go and look for an orphan set of readings and reinstate my meter.Sent from my abacus.0
