PPI Claims - claiming interest

Options
Hopefully I'm at the right place for advice :)

So, I discovered that I had PPI products on a couple of my credit cards years ago. I followed Martin's instructions and got back the premiums that I had paid, which was great.

Then, out of the blue, before Christmas RBS wrote to me to say there was a mis-calculation and they owed me a further £3249! The bulk of this payment was interest. I was amazed and pleased.

Barclaycard have wrote to me because they identified that I had a PPI policy on my EGG Card (now with Barclaycard) - yes I did and I have had the premiums back. They asked if I thought I was mis sold the policy, so I filled in the online form and they wrote back to me saying that you have had the premiums back so no further action.

My question is can I go back to them and request that should pay me interest on the premiums I have paid? The circumstances were exactly the same as RBS so why have Barclays not come forward with this?

Sorry it's a long winded question.

Thank you in advance.

You probably did get it back with the initial redress.

Just because RBS made an error doesn't mean that Barclaycard have.
  • Thanks for that.

I don't think they did though, as I only got paid a few hundred back??

    Is it worth me asking??

How much were you expecting? PPI claims don't have to be big. They can be a couple of quid, depending on what you paid.

What did the letter say that accompanied the refund?
  • The barclaycard letter said that they had paid me the premiums I had paid plus any commission they earned, so no interest.

RBS said they have re looked at my case and they paid me interest.

Premiums paid for both were similar amounts.

    Thanks

You have nothing to lose by phoning Barclaycard and querying whether interest payments were included in their refund?
  • Yes, I 'll give it a try :)

    Thanks
