Missile, please keep an open mind on the advice you have been given. Most of the posters above have huge experience and no axe to grind. They are trying desperately to help you. Please at least consider the possibility that they may be correct.

My wife and I are not savvy investors. That is why I posted. I am grateful to, been courteous to and thanked those who have given me helpful advice.

  • I find your Aegon figures very odd, I have an old Aegon pension that was worth £9000 in 2006 when I stopped paying in, at the moment it's worth £26,000, it was just the standard cautious lifestyle fund that was default with my employer at that time. I did transfer £4 k into it this year from a very old scheme, but even so it has more than doubled in ten years. I'm hoping for even better growth now I've moved it into a higher risk find with Aegon/retire ready.
My worst performing fund has returned over 6% on average over 15 years.
You need some answers from both providers.
  • That's a point, I assume your wife hasn't got an online account with Aegon, I suggest she gets one and then will be able to see exactly what her pension is worth. The retireready website is very well set up and easy to use.
For clarity, my Aegon fund has increased by £2000 in six months, (plus the £4k I transferred in).

Thanks for your suggestion. I am hoping we and or they have made a mistake(s). My wife did phone and has written to pension providers and requested their comment.

    Is that 6% per annum?

She has opened an account today, but unfortunately her pension fund does not show.
You'll be able to see policy values for some of our existing Aegon pensions. Unfortunately we won't be able to show the values of any protection, annuity, International Investments, Aegon Retirement Choices or One Retirement policies you have.

  • Yes, 6% on average annually, that was with a very old legal and general pension .
The Aegon fund has returned over 10% a year on average.

Thats a generic "fob off" response.

From what you've posted so far it looks as if they have lost one of the two funds you originally mentioned.

Have you asked them specifically about the fact that they showed you two funds, and now there is only one, rather than the valuation report?

No data. No detail. No explanation.

What happened to the with profits fund? (that cannot go down in value)?
What unit linked fund is it in? (noting that none of the CM funds have lost value in that period)
What were the number of units back then and how many units are there today?
