Can't be removed under any circumstances now, sorry.

Your credit file has to reflect your financial history.

The defaults are there for 6 years (5 in Scotland) so as long as the original registered dates are correct then they will drop off in time. If you think the defaults were added with a late date then you can get the date corrected, still not removed.

4 satisfied defaults from 4-5 years ago however should not be enough to prevent you getting a mortgage... Have you been rebuilding your credit history? Have you got a decent deposit set aside?
Have you spoken to an independent mortgage adviser?

Lots of things will determine your mortgage eligibility, and whilst they may affect what rate you get then they probably wouldn't be enough to prevent you being offered one completely. DH had a default (joint account with his ex - long story but as soon as he knew then it was settled - we managed to remortgage twice whilst it was still on his history).
There are lots of factors that come into play, the main ones are loan to value of the property and affordability of a mortgage to you. Speak to someone independent.

    Hi

I’ve heard of a few cases where a creditor has agreed to remove a default as a good will gesture, but that’s very rare and entirely at their discretion. Don't pin your hopes on it. A mortgage broker who specialises in poor credit history would probably be your best chance of finding a mortgage with the defaults still on your file.

Backinbusiness is right that defaults show on a credit file for 6 years in Scotland too.

    Mrs Tinks,

Your confusing the Limitations period in Scotland, with the time defaults stay on your file.

It's six years both sides of the border for defaults.

Limitations period is 6 years here, 5 in Scotland.

I actually had success getting a Lowell default removed, after lots of refusal I emailed the company director and told him how it was affecting my life (it was only a small amount too) and it was removed. Obviously you have to have paid the money off.
Also with Virgin I offered to pay it off in return for removing the default record and they did. Still trying with Vodafone though my last remaining one.
