How to Protect from Damage & Dust while work going on

Hi, Im having some work done at home and need some ideas (and links?) on what to use and any ideas to help keep the place as clean and undamaged as possible. We're knocking parts of a wall down and its not a massive job but will create dust and we want to limit damage (to carpets/flooring) from the workmen too. What should we be using and where (ie doorframes, etc).

Any advice/tips appreciated :-)

Along with dust sheets for the flooring/furniture, you can get snap screens that go across doorways (a bit like those ones you can put on the back door to stop bugs etc coming in)
That would help to limit dust!

I'm sure someone else will come along with better suggestions in a moment though :)

When we had the kitchen done, the guys put down some plastic sheeting (rigid plastic that they cut to shape and stuck down with something similar to parcel tape) over the wooden floors. It was down for a while and protected the floor really well.

If you can, source exapandable poles, then fix plastic sheeting to the top and botom of them, leaving a big overlap to enter and exit by.

With this type of work the dust hangs about in the air for ages. You can rent of buy extraction units which will pull the air out and the dust with it.
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!
