Recurring Credit Card Charge has affected my Credit Rating!

Any suggestions to what I should do would be appreciated.
2. Re Barclaycard, I think that'll be a lost cause*.
3. Place a notice of correction on your CRA files stating the reason for the 5 consecutive missed payments on your credit card. Many lenders will ignore it (after manual assessment, rather than computer scored assessment, which they're required to do), but you never know...someone may be lenient.
* The history remains on the account for 6 years, so to minimise the damage it might be wise to run the account well for a year or two, using the facility each and every month. This way, the 123450UUUUUUUUUUUU will be replaced by 123450000000000000000. If you close the account it will show 12345S, and that won't look good at all!0 -

Its happened before where I have had 2 policies and got a refund back because its obvious whats happened, so I will give it a go
Thanks for the advice regarding the notice of correction, I did not know you could do that. I will look into it0 -
How come you didn't setup royal mail redirection too your new address?.
I'm starting to feel like I'm the only person who has used this service!0 -
Many years ago I swapped motor insurance and forgot about autorenewal and ended up with two policies.
I had no problem getting a refund. I just had to provide proof that I had taken out a 2nd policy.
So definitely worth contacting Budget.0 -

The people we bought our house off used Royal Mail redirection. However, the service relies on your local sorting office manually sifting out letters and delivering them to the new address. They missed more often than not and I spent months taking piles of their post to the estate agent to forward onto them. We also used it and found it suitably hopeless. Total waste of time and money.
The OP was remiss by not informing Barclaycarc he had moved but you would have to be extremely diligent to not miss anyone at all. It was about 2 years after we moved that I realised I hadn't informed my pension provider. Luckily the man who bought our previous house returned the annual statement and they contacted me for my new address via my employer.0 -

Pay off your debt to Barclaycard.
Remember that your credit score is meaningless: what matters is how lenders regard you, and once they see that this debt has been repaid and there have not been any further problems then after a few months most lenders are likely to regard you as a reasonably good risk.
And the ombudsman will tell the op to bog off because they are at fault in multiple ways.
But advise them to do it, I'm sure the ombudsman office has a noticeboard for such self inflicted complaints0 -
As Superscrooge says getting a refund from Budget should not be a major struggle if you can show that you were insured elsewhere. But the report of missed payments on your credit record is factually correct so I don't see why Barclaycard should make any effort to remove them or why the CRAs would accept requests to remove them.
Next time you move you must inform your insurer (you'd have faced difficulties had you needed to make a claim), and despite catwoman's poor experience, you should use RM redirection - I've never had any significant issue with it.0 -
The previous occupants at my address set up mail redirection.
I still received a couple of letters for them that somehow slipped through. But redirection worked for over 99% of the mail.0
