Basic bank accounts and credit report

Hi,
I got into debt problems at university 6 years ago (first default falls off the credit report today!!) and although I satisfied all debts years ago this is the year I hope things finally start to improve!
My biggest debt was an overdraft on my Halifax Student account and since that one was closed I have used only an Easycash basic bank account. This account does not show on my credit report (Noddle) and I assume that's simply because there is no credit (i.e. overdraft) to show?
However I also have a half-opened joint Easycash account that I opened at University with a partner and we split years ago although are still good friends which is handy. I want to get rid of this account but Halifax have told me it wasn't ever properly opened and I can't close the account until the other person completes the process by going in with some ID. This is fine, but they still have horrendous debts to this day and I'm worried about creating a financial link so close to my defaults being removed! Will this basic account show on my report and link us if there's no credit involved? And if so (I definitely need to get it closed either way) how easy will it be to remove a financially linked person from my report?
Thank you for any help!!
