Light Switches - Any Colour to Avoid?

I need to grab three.
Currently, they're dimmer switches, which are silver and awful, not to mention they don't work with the current bulbs that are in there.
I'm looking at toggle style, perhaps a blackened silver. It's a shame as I can get polished brass (gold) cheaper but I don't think it'll go with the styles we'll get round to making. That's why I thought silver, but a darker silver would go with nearly everything.
I know I could just get some normal plastic white ones, and I know it's only a light switch but I'd prefer to get it right, and nice.

I looked at this a couple of years ago and eventually (with a lot of advice) went for standard white ones. Get smart low profile ones and they look great.0

Ours are unpolished brass; I think they look ace.0

Cant help but think brass is for old people.
I like irridium black sockets. I'd choose silver or polished chrome over brass. I'd choose paint marked white sockets over brass.
Style of house would make a difference though. Brass would look better in a victorian house for example, but probably wouldnt look the part in a new build or 50's council house.0 -
I have black nickel and they look brilliant. I think polished brass would be a bit dated these days. Regular plastic are also fine, I like the Crabtree fittings, not the cheapest but a nice style and not cheap Chinese dross.0

Brass is coming right back in. Not for old people. For people with design awareness.
It won't be long before people are switching out their chrome.
I prefer white sitches because I genuinely think there are better ways to make an impact with money and don't think switches are really design statements. Unpolished brass sounds great but wasn't available at a sensible price at the beginning of this year. I wouldn't be putting in chrome now at all.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
