I have received the discount from my energy supplier since joining them in 2012. This year I have not received the discount. I spoke to Eon and they stated that i have to apply each year which I did'nt do in previous years I had applied once in 2012 the following year I got a form to sign to confirm I still qualified which I did since then I have got the discount without re applying. Im still on pip and esa when i first claimed I was on income support and dla. Eon also said money was only awarded on a first come served basis, is this correct.

Hi Shakinstew and welcome to the forum,
I'll try and give you as much information as I can, there's also lots to read on our website.
Customers who are automatically eligible for a Warm Home Discount are known as the "Core Group". If you fall into this group you don't need to fill in an application form to receive your discount.
The DWP will have written to you from September 2016 to let you know if you qualify. We also write to you when the payment has been made.
Other customers fall in to the 'Broader Group' this has now closed and you're correct it does work on a first time first come basis.
If you're in this group, you do need to apply each year and there's a form you can fill out on the website.
As you have spoken to us already is does sound like you're in the group that needs to apply each year, you can register your interest for next time online.
Hope this helps to explain a little.
Thank you
