hello.
having had an ATI card for donkeys years i have now got a new GeForce card and have a few questions.
1. how do i switch V-Sync on/off? this wasnt an option with the ATI as far as i know, but ***** was telling me that with it ON my fps will be limited to 60fps....what are the pros/cons to having v-sync on/off?
i did search "v-sync" in the electronic manual, but nothing
2. for anyone using dual monitors....i have everything setup perfect for my needs except for one thing....i like the right hand monitor to be the primary which i can do, but i have to scroll off the right of the screen to then appear on the left of the other monitor, i of course want to scroll off the left and appear on the right...
i currently have to use the left monitor as the primary so that scrolling works right....again on the ATI i could use the right and scroll correctly.
3. when i play online games (rarely) i like the screen settings (gamma/brightness etc) at a different level to normal use, i have got these settings done but is there a way of creating a shortcut on the desktop so 1 click and the relevant setting is activated? currently i goto nvidia control panel then profiles and activate which ever i want...no biggie but would be nice to have shortcuts.
4. finally, drivers...is it generally only update if needed? i didnt update my ATI for over a year but then again only really played a couple of games. the current driver info is: 20/04/2007 6.14.11.5822
thanks guys.

v-sync does limit the frames to 60. However, assuming you are using an LCD monitor, the monitor will have a refresh rate of 60htz. This means it is only capable of displaying 60 frames per second. Anything extra that your PC creates are simply discarded if you have v-sync off.
Because of this, there is very little difference between having it on or off. Games that display fps will also only show 60fps max, but this isn't going to be a problem. However, some games may through up some problems if you have v-sync turned on/off. To change it, right click your desktop > Nvidia control panel > Manage 3d settings. In the list you get should be 'Vertical Sync. Set this to whatever you want.
2. In here is also a page for multiple displays, though I can't do anything there, as I only have one, so I don't know if that will help.
3. Sorry, can't help.
4. The 8x00 series are still pretty new, so it may be an idea to update the drivers from time to time, as there are often performance tweaks included. However, if all your games are running fine, a couple of extra frames won't matter too much, so just leave it.0 -

everything else sorted...just this one doing my head in
if its not possible so be it, but i would have thought it was somehow.

update for anyone who searches this problem....
it turns out i can only get the monitor setup how i want it if i have the monitors plugged in to the card in a certain order. i cant set it via properties.
it maybe because one of the leads has a DSUB converter on it, i dont really know. :rotfl:0 -
You can set custom colour/gamma corrections by doing this
Right click small nvidia icon in the taskbar.
Select color correction
Set it to what you want then press save as and name it whatever you want.
Then when you click the icon in the taskbar you can select custom color settings and it will be there.0
