Kwik-fit card scam?

Isn't a kwik-fit card only usable in Kwik-Fit depots?
Well I thought so too, but then Googling around I found an HMV offer to Kwik-fit card holders in 2006 - some percentage off orders thing. So I'm not so sure it is restricted to use at Kwik-fit. There is certainly nothing in the documentation that says it is.0
