Is there an easy way I could tell by looking as to whether mine has a shut-off valve?.
    Lke this:

£3 so not exactly a high expenditure item.

Just follow the pipes back. It's not rocket science.

Might be a gate valve instead:

First things first, remember the essentials:

    A plentiful supply of gin
    Several gallons of tonic
    A tree-load of lemons
A darkened room to lie down in

    :D

Sorry to be flippant, but this was the only way I made it through my kitchen install - and my fitters were doing the lot: rip-out, electrics, plumbing, plastering - everything but the tiling. I don't think there's enough gin in the world to get me through organising several trades! You're much braver than I.

Trust me on the gin though ;)

I have a distinct suspicion that a bottle of wine (or two) might find its way onto my shopping list whilst having my kitchen done - even if I get a firm to do a "full deal" job. If I do decide to go with the "make it from hand" approach - then suspicions run to "Maybe I ought to get a whole crate of wine....."

Brave - errrm....well I've had about 40 adult years of being single and have had to learn to be a lot "braver" I feel as a consequence (no hubbie to turn to and go "You deal with the neighbours/the Council/etc - and...whew...someone to help pay for everything").

Then I moved across country - cue for another lesson in having to grit teeth and learn to be yet braver ("You name it - and it's probably some distance away these days")....

These days I tend to feel that I'm way out of my Comfort Zone anyway_pale_ .....so it's almost like "What's a bit more of having to 'gird loins and grit teeth' ?"

Gotcha:T. Must have a burrow under the sink and see if I can spot either of those then - and keep fingers crossed I do.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
