Trying to get a balance transfer, the CC called but hung up when I answered. Why??

Options
I haven't done this before so I'm confused. I applied online, they gave me a provisional limit (pretty much covers the balance for the old card), said they would get in touch as they needed to do some checks. They called today but hung up on me a couple of seconds after I answered the call and they didn't call again. Is this normal?

Many thanks.

Seems to be. They did the same thing to the person in this thread just this afternoon...

Yeah, the poster's name is familiar! :D Sorry, I'm mega stressed!
  • Yes this is what credit card companies do as part of their assessment process. They have an algorithm that can assess your credit-worthiness by how fast you answer the phone.

    Lol!

Seriously though, probably a minor phone system fault at their end. Don't sweat it, they'll be in touch if the need anything.

The callers do this hundreds of times a day, they let it ring for so long then go onto the next on their list. You were probably just unlucky that they hung up just as you answered.

It took me like 2 seconds to answer, Ok, maybe 3 :D

At least they called and it wasn't a straight off 'sod off' <hopes>

Thanks you, I'm just desperate to switch my card to something with a better rate. The current one's eye watering and it's taking me ages to clear it (I'm paying far more than the minimum).
