Whatsapp on iPad Pro non cellular

I have a spare mobile phone that's semi redundant and was wondering if I could use Whatsapp on my iPad Pro (using that mobile number) like I did on android tablets?

You would need to install Whatsapp outside of the app store to get it on the iPad. That is not too difficult with Android but harder with an iPad.0

One work around (seeing as WhatsApp isn't available for iOS on iPad) is to scan the QR code from the semi redundant phone.
