Home Insurance Claim refused

Thought the following might help others;
I made a claim on my home insurance after a major problem with the drains, resulting in the laying of entirely new ones costing thousands of pounds. The insurers dismissed the claim immediately on the grounds that the offending part of the drain was pitch fibre, which they didn't cover. This wasn't apparent at the inspection chambers- plastic drains were used there. Involved the insurance ombudsman who challenged the insurers on my behalf, on the grounds that this was an unfair term; i.e. the composition of the drains could not have ben known, and if they intended to rely on this fallback, they should have advised on a full drain survey before accepting the insurance. The insurers paid up.
