Rights re. Boden Clearance Sales

Before Christmas I attended one of Boden's giant clearance sales held at the Silverstone Circuit. It was a bit of a bun fight but I managed to get two cashmere jumpers for £40 each, a considerable saving but still not exactly cheap. Despite only being worn 4-5 times, one has developed a hole where the ribbed neck has come away from the main body. I have emailed Boden but have got a response which says that "all sales are final" and therefore they cannot offer a replacement or refund. Is this correct? The jumper was not sold as a second quality and surely does not meet the terms of the Consumer Rights Act?

They would be correct if you had simply changed your mind but as it's faulty they need to provide you with a refund (I doubt they would have a replacement available). Try calling them on 0330 333 0000. If they still refuse to offer a refund then you might need to get your bank/credit card issuer involved.0 -
Or learn to sew. That's free. Seriously if you like the jumper and it'll probably be a hassle claiming the money back (can't imagine an auction house being too quick with refunds), well worth repairing it yourself and making sure you check for any more loose stitches. Just get a thread that has a very similar colour (the same yarn is best, but thread will work too).0

Auction house? What is that referring to. Boden is an online clothing retailer, which must run some sort of in person outlet sale at Silverstone.
To the OP, I am pretty surprised at Boden, I returned some shoes which wore out almost a year later for a full refund, as they have 365 day guarantees on most things. I'm guessing not on these sale items, but usually they go above and beyond. I would definitely email back stating the items are faulty and you need to send them back for a full refund.0 -
I got no joy complaining apart from a £15 goodwill gesture. Looks like I will be getting a needle and thread out and keep the jumper. I will be wary of these outlet sales in the future! Thank you for the feedback.0
