The only thing lest to claim would be holiday pay if that is not been paid.

I would doubt either OP or her friend ever received holiday pay

I've calculated, based on OP working average 1hr 20 min week over a year's term time of 38 weeks, but halved as she only worked for 6 months, that she is due approx 3hrs 15 min, so at £3.50 per 20 min, she would be owed about £35 holiday money.

But my calculations could be very wrong.

Bearing in mind OP's hourly rate would be £10.50 - well above NMW - could her employer argue that that figure includes holiday pay, as she can only take holiday during school holidays

Could argue that way, but if so the holiday would have to be detailed on the payslips as a separate item.

As I said, I used to just tot it up and pay it at the end of each term, but it was clearly labelled holiday pay even then.

I don't think the OP had a payslip

No contract, no payslip, no way he employer can say they have paid holiday pay.

There is a contract, it just appears not to be a written one.

If the employer is obliged to pay the OP and her friend holiday pay, then I imagine it's going to hit her finances as she will have to pay other past and present walkers.

OK, nothing contractual(referring to holiday pay)

As there will not have been a holiday year defined either, max 1 years worth, but will be based on the anniversary of the start date.
