Car Insurance: Worth getting the "Personal Injury Cover" and "Hire car cover" added?

I've just got a quote from Elephant.co.uk as £495 and there are 2 optional extras:-
Personal Injury Cover - £20.95
With our Personal Injury Cover you get peace of mind from knowing that you'll get up to £30,000 worth of compensation if you are seriously injured in an accident - regardless of who's to blame. Simply add Personal Injury Cover to your car insurance policy and you also get the following:
all named drivers covered
all passengers covered
quick claim settlement
up to £30,000 worth of compensation
and
Hire Car Cover - £28.95
Relax with complete peace of mind that we’ll keep you on the road if your car is written off or stolen. The package includes the following features:
all named drivers on your motor policy covered
guaranteed hire car for up to 21 days (comprehensive policy)
replacement vehicle guaranteed to be less than one year old
Would you say its worth the extra £50 to have these 2 options? I have critical illness cover with my life insurance if that makes any difference.
Cheers

This is true but the main advantage is that (subject to a few exclusions - drugs, alcohol etc) personal accident cover will pay benefits regardless of fault.0 -
Agree with ts. We never have any of the extras the ins co's offer.
The hire car covers you to have a car for up to 21 days. When your ins co are happy your car is fixed they take it back.
What if you aren't happy with the repairs and your car has to go back to the garage again?
I only mention this as last year I had a fault accident, no-one else involved. Our car went back to the garage about 6 times IIRC over a 5 week period as we weren't happy with the finish or quality of the repair.
Personally I think these extras are just money makers for ins co's. In all the years we have been driving we have never once (thank god) wished we had taken out extras like these.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I had the hire car option with my insurance, and when I was involved in an accident and my car was written off, i was very glad I did, as it made it possible to go back to work after a few weeks off (didnt get one straight away-my choice), and look for a new car. Though I think mine was about £21£2 Savers club £0/£150
1p a day £/0 -
We were fortunate to have the use of a hire car included in our insurance, never thought we'd need it then on the 1st of this month we were involved in an accident resulting in our car being written off. The hire car arrived the a couple of days later enabling my OH to ferry me to work (not sure if I should be quite so grateful for that! lol) as I have my arm strapped up having suffered a shoulder injury in the accident. The car was a godsend. We didnt have PII but have legal aid on the policy so the insurance company's solicitors are sorting our third party claims for costs and injury. I would say if you can afford it then do consider it, hopefully you'll never need to use it though.Happy riding on two or three"We're not complete idiots, we do have some parts missing!" :doh:0
