Land registry help

Which form do I need to fill out to change my surname on my title deeds for my house.ive had a look and the form that comes up looks really complicated,it's an AP1 form? Which areas do I need to fill in? Also is there a fee to do this? Thankyou.

    Why bother? You don't need to. Just hang on to your marriage/divorce certificate/whatever.

    Whilst technically you are supposed to apply using FORM AP1 I know from past experience that if you ask your solicitor to write to them with a letter addressed to your local office then they should be able to do it that way instead of filling in the forms.


    You could probably do it yourself if you got a solicitor to certify your identification documents as well so they knew it was you and enclosed a copy of the relevant document responsible for changing your name with the letter to them. You can also go into your local Land Registry and hand them your letter and show them your ID whilst you are there.


    Its just a case of them updating the register so they are usually quite happy to help.

    No, as long as you've got evidence linking your old name to your new one. You don't need to change anything at the registers.
