Giving up my mobility car

Hi can you help please. My illness is now worse than before. I am due for a new car in march 2017 but I really can't renew. My daughter was a second driver on my car but now she has her own car. I can't go out much at all and my car sits there doing nothing. I cannot drive it myself anymore due to medications I am on. What should I do ? To me it's a waste of my mobility money.

I'm sure you can't be MADE to renew in March, but if you'd like to give it up sooner than that then why not phone them and ask how you'd do that?Signature removed for peace of mind0

As above you have the option to renew, they can't force you to. If you have been managing without the extra money, why not have it automatically go to a savings account. You can then use that account as a transport fund for taxis when you do go out and people can't take you.0

You should be receiving a letter from motability telling you your lease is up in march and if you wish you can look round different dealers now so if you had been going to renew your new car should have been available for delivery as the other one was up.Its a simple case of ringing motability, telling them you dont wish to renew and they will notify the Dhs who will then transfer your payments back to you..0

There's no obligation to renew the contract and get a new car March. I reached the same point last year and arranged with Motability to hand my car back 2 years early, they totally understood my reasons and made it very easy.0

I was in a similar position my health has got worse so I had to give up my own motability car and have decided to change it for a wheelchair assisted vehicle,I am waiting for delivery of the new WAV so are getting paid the mobility part of my pip until the car is ready.
I phoned motability up and they have been fantastic about the whole affair, not pushing me one way or another. My original car had been barely used and was doing nothing on the drive,so I am going to give the WAV a try.0 -
