If you are on BT sign up to BT TV's top package which is currently on sale for £12 a month for a year. You get a UHD 4K rebadged Humax PVR for £144 and benefit from the subscription channels included with the package too. At the end of the 12 months cancel the contract and the Youview box just works like a Freeview PVR.

I changed from Humax to Youview PVR. As another poster said Youview is manufactured by Humax, however it is superior to the Humax I had. I find it is more responsive and the interface much better.

There is more than one manufacturer of Youview boxes.

We've got a Youview DTRT2100 which has suffered 2 annoying issues *out of warranty now) 1. channel recording is unreliable e.g. sometimes to get an automatic recording going you have to change to the channel to be recorded; 2. tuner has problems with SD channels; HD channels are fine. In fact we use an old Humax to record the SD channels but its menu system/remote control is very sluggish. We'll get it sorted one day...

Our Freeview is limited and so have Freesat instead of paying for BT's Freeview. Don't need any extra channels.
