Before you do anything read this:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan

Why are you scared of the bailiffs? What are you afraid they will do?

Do you have any assets they can seize? If not then stop being afraid of them. They can't put you in jail and if you can't pay and have no valuables then they will simply return the debt to the courts (there are a few exceptions but in NO instant will this happen when they come to visit you. It would need to go through court and there would be opportunities to dispute all of this or defend it).

I want you to read the link above, then I want you to take a deep breath and remember that debt problems can be resolved! It may be that you qualify for a DRO: https://www.stepchange.org/Howwecanhelpyou/DRODebtrelieforder.aspx but regardless there ARE options out there.

The important thing is to STOP running and hiding because it's doing your health no good at all. Please... speak to one of the debt charities - we will always help on here as much as we can, but I would suggest that maybe talking to a person would help? They are not there to judge, they are there to help you resolve this situation.

Are you confusing debt collectors with bailiffs ?

Can you give us a little bit more info, what debts you have, and to whom ?

Firstly, well done on recognising that you have a problem and coming on to this website. You will find so many people willing to help you and give you lots of valuable advice. Also working nights as a n/a with your depression and bi-polar illnesses has got to be tough, so make sure you are looking after yourself as this is additional stress that you don't need. But I think if you take control as you appear to be trying to do will help with this.

I don't know anything about debt charities etc so cant add to the above advice that you have been given but thought I would tell you what I did. I started off with £20,000 debt and have reduced it to just below £4000. It was tough but can be done. I sold everything that I didn't need/use via ebay/amazon/gumtree and would throw this money at my debt even if it was just a few pounds. Used Magpie to sell. Stopped going out and paid for a subscription to Netflix instead. When buying things I would ask myself "Do I really need this or just want this?". If it was just a case of wanting I often wouldn't buy and never really missed not having the item if that makes sense.

Why don't you post up a SOA so people can see where you can make savings etc. Good luck

It sounds like you are realising you need to take stock of what you owe and are keen to get a handle on it - great move and you should be proud of this achievement. Firstly, don't panic.

Secondly, write down all your monthly outgoings and highlight where you can save.

You should be able to draw up a list of all your creditors and perhaps you can prioritise the most important debts. You'll need to create a realistic plan to pay what you can.

I decided to go with a Debt Management Plan via PayPlan and it was helpful for 2 reasons
    1) they helped me set out a plan of all my incomings and outgoings and anything left over went to pay my debtors - they helped negotiate payment plans (while I was making token payments in the meantime).
    2) As I was unable to take on more credit, it helped me manage a new way of (not) spending

As I'm about 18 months into this, I am taking back this control and beginning to manage my own payments back.

I can honestly say that taking my head out the sand and getting to grips with my debtors was the best thing ever to get a good nights sleep.

Whatever way you proceed - whether a self managed plan or not, I wish you all the best. You can do this!!

There's so much helpful advice and plenty of resources on these pages and you'll be able to work out what suits you. Research well and good luck!!
