New Build - Broadband Speed
Comments
-
When I moved into a new build the Broadband speed was 0mbps. It took 3 months for BT to install (connect) phone lines, as the builder failed to notify they had finished and they "didn't know about the properties" until I notify them. Fibre wasn't installed to the local cab for another year!0

We are in a town and 20 minutes walk from the exchange.
We have been promised fibre for years; the latest when I joined PlusNet, in September, was that it would be installed by the end of last month.
However, the OR site says that the cabinet is full, so no provision is available (odd as we can see the nearest cabinet from the house and it's still the smaller old one).
So, nothing is certain.0 -
Surely FTTH must be faster than FTTC as there is no copper, only fibre - 60mb would be classed as "slow" for FTTC and and 12 mb upload is not good when 20mb is standard for fttc now
You can get 300mb down and 150mb up for £75/month.0 -
As someone else said, that's the cheapest package.
You can get 300mb down and 150mb up for £75/month.
You cannot get 150mbps upstream on the Openreach network. It's 330 down and 30up.
They have announced two new services up to a maximum of 1Gbps down and 220mbps up, but no ISP currently offer it as far as I know.0 -

It's not on Openreach.
Yes, seriously

It's a personal thing, but I flat-out wouldn't consider a property where I couldn't get fiber internet (VM counts).0

I was promised to have a working telephone and internet within a week of moving into my new build house.
It took BT nine months to set it up.
Despite regular phone calls (from mobiles) to complain by 38 different householders, BT just didn't care.
I would therefore say that if you are moving into a new build just be glad if you get any telephone or internet at all.0 -
The property has so many plus points, I would be a shame to reject it on grounds of broadband when it might not be an issue, or it might be a pain for a year or so.0
