Challenge L&G after denied critical illness cover or not with it?

Just purchased our first home and sorting out life cover with L&G. I received a letter the other day saying they won't cover me for critical illness because an mri I had in 2005 shows a venous dysplasia lesion???? News to me! So I've spoken to GP surgery receptionist who discussed it with GP and all I got was "Yeah it's just one of those things and they won't cover you" . So it's significant enough to not cover me but not enough to have never been told about it of followed up?
I'm not sure what to do....I can't go to the GP because they won't be interested if I was never followed originally and if I pay private for repeat mri etc just to challenge it then I'll pay a fortune.
Oh and not to mention the worry that finding this out from an insurance company has caused.....I'm not even sure if I should be concerned about it or not?
What to do?

don't take it personal, they are looking for ways to risk profile you, any abnormality they will frown upon no matter how small."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Why not find another insurer who is less fussy? The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Melly, I can understand how you feel for this unwelcome news but many congratulations on buying your first home.
Your surgery have responded to you concerning the implications on your application for Critical Illness (CI), but I don't think the matter is closed from your perspective. You clearly need/want a greater level of understanding so I would insist on an appointment with your GP to discuss the MRI findings.
It's unlikely that a repeat MRI would be of any value unless the diagnosis of a venous abnormality was tentative, or inclusive and if that is the case, your GP may well support a repeat on the NHS.
From an insurance perspective CI is a unique product that pays the full benefit on diagnosis of specific events. Perhaps you can draw some comfort from the fact L&G offered life cover. I would recommend that you speak with your doctor for your peace of mind, and after that, you might want to pursue alternative insurers (through a broker), but at least you'll be fully aware of the situation.
Good luck, and in the meantime, enjoy your new home.0
