If you're going to make random threats you could at least try to get them right: consumers cannot escalate anything to ofgem, escalation of energy complaints is to the Energy Ombudsman.

Pointless posting...I will find out how to escalate via OFGEM as your post indicates but I doubt it will be needed.0 -

until I remembered that I have the same feelings about Condensing Boilers (CB).
When our old (non CB) boiler packed up many years ago, we were pressed to install a CB one. The pitch was that it was "far more efficient" and would pay for itself as it saved upto 30% in fuel costs.
The only problem was that quotes for purchase & installation of a CB ranged from £4K to £13K. The £4k quote assumed that the Central Heating would not need to be replaced....
So, it turns out that the boiler would pay for itself, in about 20 years, way beyond its expected lifetime.
One of my rellies is in the heating business and also pointed out that CBs are notoriously unreliable, in his opinion.
So Spammy is not keen on CBs and can vaguely understand the OP's feelings here.Doesnt mean that they is right, tho....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
The meters are not interchangable between different suppliers but will be in about 6 months,if you change suppliers at the moment they have to come and change your meters again but as it costs the customer nothing, why worry.0

My local plumber has told me not to replace my boiler until my old one packs up. He says the new boilers only last less than 7 years. Checked with me bruv, who confirmed it.
My current boiler is over 17 years old and touch wood, it is still working fine. If and when I have to replace me boiler, I will get my bruv to do it.
I have not been contacted by BG since my last post,0 -

Surely this is pretty much the main & only reason that you would change your boiler. Unless:-
1. You do not like the colour
2. It's not the same as your neighbours/sisters etc
3. or the kitchen or wherever is reloctaed due to a house extension

I found out recently that my parents had one fitted about 6 months ago. They had a new meter fitted about 2 months before that, when I finally convinced them to switch to a credit meter after years of being on prepayment. Apparently, someone from BG then told them that it was the law that they HAD to have the smart meter installed. :mad:0 -
Periodically, EDF have emailed us to ask if we want a Smart meter (we don't have any gas, so it's purely for electricity and I usually simply ignore them.)
However, a couple of times they have got my husband on the phone and he is far more sweet tempered and tolerant than me.However, once unfortunately for them, they spoke to me and were told in no uncertain terms that we did not want one and furthermore the subject was not even open for discussion. I told them that I did not expect to be pestered with any more phone calls and they said they would remove our names from their list.
So far it seems to have worked and now we only get the very occasional email. :cool:A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.0
