Tenants/rent guarantor

I have been presented with the following scenario:
Daughter would like to rent, single parent on HB.
Parents (flat owner) offered to be rent guarantor.
Parents (both retired) would like to live with DD so have requested to be named on the AST.
Would anyone foresee complication with above arrangements?

    Your post doesn't make much sense.

    Do parents own flat daughter wants to rent?
    Does daughter want parents to live with her?
    If property owned by someone else then daughter would only be liable for half (third?) of the rent and therefore only entitled to HB on that.

    Indeed, very confusing. If they are moving in too and are named on the ast, they wouldn't be guarantors, they would be the tenants themselves.

    So why did they offer to be rent guarantor? Do you mean that she has a very bad credit score, but wants to be named on the ast and therefore, in addition to guaranteeing their rent, they are guaranteeing hers?

    I thought that if there was only one ast with all three named, then they are all responsible for the rent and who pays it is not the LL's business as long as it is paid in full. They are all guarantors for eachother by default?

    They can't simultaneously be the guarantor and the tenant. It's one or the other. All of them being named on the tenancy agreement as joint tenants will mean that each of them has joint and several liability for the whole rent, there will be no such thing as "DD's share" and "the parents' share" but the parents living with DD will impact DD's HB claim.

    There is no dual role. Everyone's role appears to be 'tenant'.
    You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.

    So i guess the conclusion is that even if the parents do sign the rent guarantor form, its becomes worthless!
