Snagging survey on a NEW BUILD

Just wondering if a snagging survey on a new build house is worth the money?
I don't have a price for one yet, but have heard that it could cost between £300-£400. Of course against the price of the house we are buying it's not a lot really, but just wanted to hear other people's experiences if they have had one, and if it was useful or not?
Also did people get it done prior to completion? Or after?
I have read some websites that say get it done before exchange but it is very unlikely our house will be fully built before we exchange!
