Groupon - Canada

Good morning,

I am hoping that I am posting this in the right place.

We are off to Toronto at Easter and I have been looking at some of the deals on Groupon/Toronto and have seen 2 that I would like to use, but I am unable to do so as when I add a credit card to my account it wants me to fill in state and postcode and it won't accept my UK postcode and it wants me to add a state will not save the card to the account if I don't.

Anyone got any ideas how I get around this.

Thank you so much.

  • Contact Groupon about it and ask how to bypass the issue, I would be checking with the Company that has the offer listed if it was as described, I do not use the service myself but know a few people that moan about offers not being as described.
  • I experienced this issue for the US and discovered that while the website doesn't accept foreign card details, the app does! (IIRC it bills your iTunes account, so you might wish to change that before making your purchase if you were wanting to use a different card).

I had a similar issue a few years ago when setting up a .com account. Contacted Groupon CS in UK who could not advise on the fix so read up similar queries on web sites.

I vaguely remember fudging the sign up details that I had a North American address with a UK post code or vice versa. I do remember contacting my Credit card company to let them know I would be using it for a foreign transaction and everything went through successfully. Please take the above at your risk though if you think of doing the same. This was about 5 years ago and systems may have improved their security now.

I have purchased many US/Canadian Groupons some great and not so good unfortunately.

Maybe the ITunes method mentioned earlier will be an easier solution, or how about signing in through Facebook or paying via paypal, that may work. Good luck.
  • If you use your street address, but postcode for hotel you might be staying at it should work. I did this a few times for Groupon USA.
