Hi, My daughter has received a letter from smart Parking in Dundee for Unauthorised parking on Brown Street, She and loads of other use this area for parking when they go to the local Gym and she has parked there for the last 3 year without any problems but this letter now has came through from them with the usual stuff written, Her mail obviously still comes to my address as she is still stays at my house but she is at University in Dundee and we do not open her mail but another letter has arrived saying there is now a parking charge for £160 and it needs to be settled by 17/01/17. The second letter has came from Debt Recovery Plus, What can be done with this farce?? Thanks Dave.

just read the newbies sticky thread , especially the bits about Scotland with no keeper liability and also read the DRP post as well, where debt collectors are powerless and can be ignored
you cannot stop the letters coming for 5 years though (until they are statute barred)
put the search word SCOTLAND into the forum search box to see the hundreds of other threads that have raised similar issues and read the advice given too0 -

She may have been parking there for years to use the gym, but now there is a hotel in the previously empty building next door and she will be parking in their car park and not on Brown Street itself which if I'm mistaken is all double yellows.0 -

Smart Parking and DRP are just timewasters
Without knowing who the driver is, they are up the river without a paddle ..... they know it and now they are on their knees begging for money.
Do not be tempted to reply to DRP, let them waste their time and money. They already know that Scotland is a no go area and they also know that the advice is to ignore them0 -

Wherever she parks, be aware that hotels employ these parking morons as well0 -
As above, the advice for private parking tickets in Scotland (and NI) is ignore, ignore, ignore.
The advice for debt collectors anywhere in the UK is ignore, ignore, ignore.
Unfortunately the advice in England and Wales for private parking tickets is different as the law is different.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Ignore them totally! - Smart can't do anything in Scotland if they don't know who the driver is and DRP can do nothing at all.0
