Can anyone suggest places in Europe with city/town centre camp sites? or town/cities with campsites within an easy walk? etc.
Examples of places I have been to help the suggestions Visp (Switzerland), Chamonix (France), Skwierzyna (Poland) looking for cheap sun and camping is pretty cheap. I would like to avoid holiday parks I am thinking more of the basic campsite (place to pitch a tent, showers, toilets and a water tap etc).
Thanks

Thanks do you know of any websites that list the French municipal campsites? or is it an area by area type of thing?0 -
we stayed here: Santa Maria Navarrese. Flew in to Cagliari, cheap hire car. We didnt camp but camping/caravanning seems popular. It would be too hot in peak summer I think.
Driving round was easy.
Torre di Bari really nice too.
Italy seems good value for self arranged holidays worth looking at the Cinque Terra north of Pisa too. We stayed at Levanto, easy train from Pisa airport.
Google camping la ferme for France, camping also hugely popular in the Netherlands even the dutch pm does it.0 -
If you're going to have a car then Bad Liebenzell in the Black Forest has a lovely campsite just outside the town, with supermarkets at either end of the site and a 10 min walk to restaurants, shops etc. It's close enough to Stuttgart to drive to the S Bahn and get the train in for the day, but also peaceful and lots of things to do and walks. There's a train and bus and staying there gets you a card to get buses and trains free or discounted in the region. It is a holiday park but it's tiny and there only have pools rather than entertainment and lots of noise. We stayed in June and it was hot and mostly older German couples who had caravans there. Or maybe a campsite along the Vltava river just outside of Prague, lots of cultural and active options and reasonably priced."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." We stayed at the municipal site above Menton, easy walk down to town and beach but bit of a drag back up steep hill to campsite.0

Amsterdam has several campsites in or close to the city centre, but if you fancy a campsite with one of the best views in the World, try this...

Ok...it's not in a city, but you're an hour from Rome on the express trains, 40mins Naples & Pompeii, a bus ride from Positano, Amalfi & Ravello, and a boat ride from Capri & Ishia. I spotted this site when I was staying in a 4* hotel across the road from it.0
