Car Battery Charger?

you mean a booster pack ?0

I bought one of these over a year ago from a market for £20. I have used it a couple of times and it works well. Have seen identical looking ones for £40 in a large chain of motoring shops.0

The "booster packs" are just small low quality batteries, a cheap mains charger, and 2 big croc clips.
You'd be best off spending £10-£20 on a decent set of jump leads, ie at least 4m/5m long. I mean it's not that often that you'll be somewhere and there'll be no other vehicle around. If you still want to be totally independant then get an old car battery from a scrappy (cost £0-£5). You can keep this in the boot next to the jump leads and every so often take it out and charge using a mains 12v charger0 -
Another suggestion is to check the age and condition of your car battery and if it's getting old/deteriorating then replace it before it fails on you, it'll save you a lot of hassle and you can shop around for a good price for the battery.0

Yes, does anyone know, where I can get one, at a reasonable price? (£30)0 -
I bought my RAC booster pack for £29.99 in an Argos sale. Full retail was £54.99. I would never have bought it for £54.99.
Costco sell a booster pack for £20-£30 and it seems to retail for much more in car accessory shops. The man without a signature.0 -

Is it portable? Do you need to charge it before use???0 -
Yep it is portable and you do have to charge it before use. The instructions recommend a monthly charge. The man without a signature.0

The first one is not a boost starter, it is just a battery charger (which requires mains), the second one has a boost start facility built in but both require mains.
Buy one if you want to, but all you need are a pair of jump leads. If you have a booster in your boot, unless you have a saloon boot some scrote will do a smash and grab just to get it.0
