Sounds like you are really on the right tracks SWG - you will get there

Thanks LauraB89 . Making a start anyway.
Well, for £0 I am going to get a new coat by next Saturday as it was a genuine fault of the make as I had looked after it and had the e receipt. It was much easier than I thought it was going to be. I also enquired about some direct debits to Currys and Carphone Warehouse. They don't know what I'm paying for, so I can cancel them, but also one of the customer service people told me to investigate more as I could probably get a lot more money back as I've been paying this direct debit for a while now. It's not a huge amount, but I'll save just over £20 a month which could definitely be my shopping bill for the week if not month! If I can get some money back too that would be nice.
I also paid a bit extra towards my cc, again not a huge mount, but I'm hoping that will go down.
I also know I need to investigate PPI and cards that you have to pay for. I'm sure I'm due something.
I am also a clutter bug - could probably win the Guinness world record for it actually. Have enough smellies to last for quite a while, and way too many clothes and 'things'.
have also been looking at the Comper's corner - that's quite addictive. I am amazed at how may people have won on MSE. I'd love to win a holiday or an experience or well anything really :-).
Hope you've all had a good Sunday.0 -
So, have a really painful arm - worse than a pulled muscle.
Paid off a bit more towards credit card, so now down to £3890.82 :-)- Well, it's going down in the thousands - sort of.
Yesterday was a nsd - today was - though for pain killers. Not spending half as much now that I'm more aware of what I spent last month.
May be able to get some money back from Geek Squad as they kept taking a direct debit, despite having cancelled the insurance. I don't know how long this has been going on, but know that it's been for years!!! Have to look at my overdraft too as keep getting charged a lot to use it and I'm nowhere near clear of it.
Hope everyone else having a good day. Laura, I read your book from cover to cover last night. You're an inspiration :-).0 -
Not nearly a money saver yet, but even with the little changes I have made, things seem to be on the up, and the debt are slowly going down. :j
I now, if I can help it use only cash, so I really can count it, rather than just using contactless- very dangerous.
I have cancelled some direct debits - and also inquired as to what they were. Argghhh- getting nowhere with that even though they said that I was due a refund but can't find this, that, etc.
Also having a new coat delivered all free as it's the replacement- was meant to pick it up today, but hasn't been delivered yet, so they're going to post it to me - free of charge of course.
Have worked out that last month, as well as completely overspending, I took £350 out of the ATM . This month it's only been £140. Would've been £40, but had to get a bit more money out. However, most of the money still in my purse.
Plus I have spent £533 this month, which also includes all my direct debits and the extra money I'm paying on my credit card. And I know I can probably knock that down again with even more NSD's.
I am SO glad am now tackling this debt- s I can actually look forward to the future, and one day maybe even hopefully make plans.
I know it's not down massively, but am still chipping away, as also have my overdraft, but the biggest debt of the credit card from £4148 is now down to £3,959. :T:j:beer:.
I've been really conscious of not impulse buying which I tend to do
I haven't put the spending app on my mobile yet, but I will. I am also conscious of not spending too much money on well, junk food.
Getting paid soon, so will be even more careful with the money then.
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend. I love the MSE website and all the tips and advice, etc :money:0 -
You're so fired up it's addictive isn't it - cracking the Debt?
A few tips I've found useful. Use Facebook selling sites and Gumtree - both free and you can get people to collect or you can deliver and add a couple of quid for petrol - I sold about £400 worth of stuff last year, clothes, bits of furniture, even a broken Kindle. It all went towards my debt.
Surveys - if you can stand the boredom you can make a few quid doing surveys. It takes time but the points and ££ soon mount up.
Good ones are YouGov £50 payout when you reach 5000 it's taken me about 9 months to get to 4500 points, I'm so close
Prolific Academic pays in £, you can cash out when you get to £5 but hold off till £20 and then PayPal won't take a %
Opinion outpost pays in ££
Mintvine 1000 = £8
There are loads more. Lots of people do Swagbucks too. You just have to find the ones you get best results with. I bet I've had about £100-150 since starting them last July. I sit doing them whilst watching a bit of TV.
Good luck, you're doing great!0 -
Thank you so much Louby40. I am starting to get addicted. Hopefully it's going in the right way.

I have loads of bits and bobs lying about, so will look into selling these. Amazing how much things I actually have that I never use or are unopened, etc. £400 - wow! Will be interesting to see how much I can earn.
Haven't really looked at surveys. Thanks - will have a look.
.
Making it my mission this year to cut don the debts and get on with my life rather than let them spiral out of control. :money::beer:0 -
NSD over the weekend - quite proud. :j
Getting paid in the next 2 days :j
And I've just realised I have a maybe antique/maybe not:mad: piece of furniture just lying around that I could maybe sell later on
.
And I am astounded at how much my phone bill seems to be each month - something else to look into.
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

Payday! First since since I've been being more careful with my money.
I am very grateful for my job, but I know that I should be paid a lot more for what I do - as in I would if I was doing the same thing somewhere else. Just don't have the guts to ask for a pay rise . . .well no just yet but I should really.
I am going to clear my debts0 -
So, even though they didn't manage to post t in the end, I have now got the coat that was replaced absolutely free, and then I also got a free nail varnish from the Body Shop.
I found a cheque for £80 that I thought I had lost, but have only just found out there is a time limit of 6 months. Mines into its 7th month . Haven't been brilliant with the budget this week either, and job is getting me down a bit.
Hope everyone else is having a better week.0 -
Feeling I've not quite been on track with the spending this month, but not nearly as bad as it was in the past at all.
Think that I will try and start challenging myself to some no spend days.
I know that I can put this in my signature, but am also ging to put it here, so I can actually see for myself how much is going down since I decided to clear these debts once and for all!
Tesco CC: £3,700
Personal loan: £646.96
Personal loan: £3647.28
Think I need to look at 0% credit cards .Don't even know if I'm eligible for one or not though.0
