Currys delivery timescale

downshifted

Ordered online a supposedly in stock washing machine and am still awaiting a proposed delivery timescale. It's integrated and I want it fitting, so I expect them to have to fit it into a schedule and it to take a couple of weeks - but why can't they tell me a date so I can plan my life around it?
Only once I had placed the order did they say 2 to 4 weeks for delivery - who knows what the actual timescale will be
Last time I ordered from them they told me within a week and the Know How team were excellent and I gave them rave reviews - but this time I have found their lack of communication lamentable. They are not responding to tweets and I will not pay premium rates to call them #neveragain

The Know How contact number is an 0344 one so it's not a premium rate.0

You mean teh first full week back at work after the christmas and new year holiday period when people up and down teh country wouldve bought electricals and may be having problems/need help with them and you wonder why they are busy?

Ignoring the sarcasm I do think that their system for notifying you when Knowhow will deign to deliver, and leaving you in limbo meanwhile as to what plans you can make is poor, and poorer still when it takes them this long to do so.
On the bright side they have responded to my tweets and are planning to deliver this Friday, for which I am very grateful. If their delivery guys are anything like the last ones I had from them last month when I had a new American Fridge Freezer I will be delighted because they were cheerful, friendly, capable and helpfulDownshifted

If the OP is meant to know in advance that Currys will be busy, presumably Currys would be even more aware of this and able to arrange staffing accordingly.0 -

You would think so however in the real world its very rare for them to just hire in agency staff at a call centre just to satisfy perceived demand.Dont rock the boat

For what it's worth - last week I ordered a cooker to be delivered (not fitted) from Curry's, and was given a choice of delivery dates at the point of ordering. The first available date that suited me was 31st Jan and I received a confirmation email confirming delivery for this date. Yesterday I received an answerphone message saying that they can't meet this delivery date and will be in touch nearer the time.0

The washing machine was delivered on the timescale eventually agreed and the delivery and installation guys were polite, cheerful and efficient. I've given feedback to that effect, while still pointing out that they way they organise their deliveries leaves much to be desired. I will think twice before ordering from them again and I will not believe it when they say they have an item in stockDownshifted

The problem is that little word "integrated" - it's a two man team and there is more to it than just putting a waste pipe into a pre-existing drain point and connecting a water pipe.
I hope they do a better job for you that they did for me....
The first team didn't have much of a clue how to do the job (I know because I watched intending to fit the next one myself). Right at the end the fitter convinced himself he'd got the water feed twisted because it didn't start filling immediately (I now know that this machine twiddles its thumbs a couple of minutes before filling). They yanked it back out and broke the plastic screw feet that adjust the height at the front. That was game over and I was rebooked for a few days later. The second team had even less of a clue and I had to tell them how to do some of the job and even lend them some tools. After they had gone I realised that the door was on the wonk a bit causing it to rub and had to refit it myself.
It gets worse for integrated washing machines - amazingly there is no standard for hinge fittings so to put the door on it will almost certainly need the existing hinge hole plugging and new ones drilling - that isn't part of the service so you won't get the biggest part of the job which is the door fitting done. I was told this by the first team when I asked if they did washing machines too.0 -
In fairness I have to say that they made an excellent job of fitting the washer including re-filling the original door holes and drilling new ones. The door is straight and everything works. The service from the guys was excellent - my complaint was only re the way they take your money before committing to a delivery date and then keep you hanging around til they deign to tell you when they will appearDownshifted
