Evans halshaw ppi claim

Hi all been on this site for years without registering. I have a question if anyone can help.

I had car finance with evans halshaw maybe as far back as 1992. I have no paperwork at all and no idea how the finance was sorted and through who. But I want to reclaim the ppi from them. I've been go ogling for weeks and Evans halshaw have no ppi department it seems. Is my best course of action to go through a ppi claim firm ?

No, dont use a 'PPI claim firm', they do nothing you cant do yourself.

    Use this; http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

1992 is 13 years before regulation, you complain to Evans Halshaw and they will reject it as pre-regulation and then you can try the underwriter of the policy.

Unless you have paperwork left or still have active finance with them, your complaint won't go anywhere as there will be no proof you had it.

As above, all a CMC does is write a letter and post it, you can do that yourself and keep all the refund. They have no special powers or access

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Car dealers did not become regulated until January 2005. Whilst some branded dealers using own-brand finance have to consider earlier complaints (via the branded finance company) in most cases, the dealer can just say they were not regulated at that time and reject your complaint.

Your first port of call is the car dealer.

Evans Halshaw belongs to Pendragon PLC the address is:-
    Loxley House
    2 Oakwood Court
    Little Oak Drive
    Annesley
    Nottingham
    NG15 0DR

They have a Finance and Insurance Complaints Dept.

Having said that I would think its rather unlikely they will have kept records of your purchases from 25 years ago and as others have already said its pre regulation anyway
