The first place I've checked for lease on one of these is coming up at £275 a month (3+35 months 12k miles). If you don't intend to keep the car, you'd be better off leasing.

    I'm seeing £232 on a 6+35/12000 miles basis here...

Just seen OP is interested in Niro 3: 6+35 @ £250.

If you've ever endured a journey in a vehicle with a droning, revving CVT box, you'll know why a DCT is better.

If I was the OP I'd test drive rather than take that as gospel. New petrol engines are so quiet that CVT may not bother them, the jerkiness and hesitancy of a DCT might be more of an issue to them than the "hornets nest" experience of a CVT!

There is also the question of reliability... CVT's are proven but unreliable, DCT's are unproven and unreliable :)

It also has a manual shift mode, which the CVT does not.

I think I've used the manual shift mode on our DCT once when I was bored... The computer does a fine job of shifting so I don't have to, the only effort I need to expend is to drive through those low gears as smoothly as possible to avoid the aforementioned jerkiness/hesitancy.

Didn't I read the new Civic Type R is coming with a CVT box? Can't be too bad...

Wait for the roadtests. Excellent car BUT the CVT spoils it. I do remember the Metro having the CVT box some years ago and they laughed, but it did actually work (well most of the time).

I guess they said the same when cambelts were used instead of a chain. A bit of rubber and when it breaks the engine destroys itself...
