PPI Where do I start?

I remember paying PPI many years ago, probably back in the 90s. Unfortunately I can't remember what credit card it was on and if I also paid it on my old Grattan account.
Many years down the line I no longer have any of the old accounts, have no idea what my account numbers were and I have a new address and new surname!
I'm very much a beginner at all this and have no idea where to start, I've considered using The Claims Guys, is this a good idea?
Help please

Claims handlers can do nothing you cannot do yourself.
What is your reason for complaint?
Without account details you'll need to submit complaints in the hope that the lenders may have information, or pay each one £10 to see if a SAR brings up any details.0 -
A claims firm cannot magic up your old financial data. The Claims Guys don't know who you had a card with either. At best they'd try and complain to everyone under the sun in the hope something sticks.
If the account was in the 90s and has been closed for years (6 or more especially) then chances are they won't have any records left anyway to prove if you paid anythingSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
