Renting whilst looking ... best deal ?

Hi chaps, we are probably going to get an offer on our house soon, we haven't seen anything in our price range in the place we want to move to (Rye - Sussex) so we are thinking we may have to rent somewhere for a few months and put our furniture in storage.

I'm guessing that there are loads of empty holiday cottages in that area (Hastings, Winchelsea etc) but I also guess they are all publicised by "Agents" ... does anyone know of a listing of holiday 'owners' ... I'd rather cut out the middle man ... unless anyone has a suggestion please ?

Many thanks

Roger

I was talking to a B&B owner(midlands) and they are full Jan/Feb with locals that live on the parks that are 11m occupancy.

The B&B people give them long term deals and go on holiday.

Might be that holiday lets get some of the same business in the low season.

Easter is mid-April this year, followed in fairly short order by the first of the May bank holidays. You will be VERY unlikely to be out by then. That's a busy period for holiday accommodation.

Are you ever going to see anything in your price range in Rye? It is one of the most expensive places in that area.

Unfortunately, your idea is going to be scuppered by the change in the rules for the definition of a holiday let

it used to be possible to let the property out for a fixed term out of season and still qualify as a HL.

    But it is no more

Oh well, thanks for the heads-up one and all ... I'll need to rethink my strategy .... and Cakeguts, I think you might be correct but we thought we'd try and look around for a while ... then it's Bexhill .....
