So I saw yesterday that my local Natwest branch on Bow Road in London is set to close on the 29th of June. Apparently they are closing because 'customers are increasing using alternative ways of banking'. You could have fooled me as yet again, as is almost always the case when I seem to visit, the queue of customers was snaking out of the door and onto the street waiting to see someone at the counter. What a joke. Only got a Barclays and a Nationwide now within walking distance, will be moving to one of them, sick of Natwest.

How much did you pay them for the service of keeping that branch open?

I am horrified to receive a letter from TSB to say my branch in Goring on thames is closing down. Hopefully this is not because of the George Michael effect.

The only times I've been into a bank in the many years, is to deposit money or to change foreign currency back into sterling and the money goes straight into my account.

I don't need staff, just the machine, to deposit the notes into the machine. The euros I could have got a better rate, had I changed them elsewhere and then put the cash in the account, but the rate difference in the past, hasn't been that great to be bothered doing that.

I went into the branch this morning, to put money in via the machine and there was a long queue for counter service. As in the past, a member of staff, was going along the queue, and managed to pull out several people waiting and told them, they could do whatever the were queuing for via the machines or the tablet devices they had in the branch.

I think a lot of people do queue unnecessarily.
