Hiya
Just wondering if anyone on here is a Handelsbanken customer. Just found out sbout them today and checked and I do live near one of their branches.
Do they have a minimum salary, savings, or funds requirement when opening one of their accounts? Are there monthly costs that come with the account?
Has someone gone through the process recently/ I have read a couple of posts from people having to take in 6 months' worth of bank statements which is a hassle... is this still true?
Can anyone comment just generally if they would recommend them or not...? Currently bank with HSBC as my main bank and First Direct as a second option.
Thank you!

Unless you want a more personal relationship with your bank where they keep an eye on what you spend your money on I wouldn't bother. I applied for a current account and had two interviews and went through the six months statements malarky and then thought 'what am I doing?' and didn't take up their offer. I much prefer the relative anonymity of a 'normal' bank and should I ever buy a sex toy or something of that nature I would find it uncomfortable that the bank would be much more aware of my purchase than other banks.
They generally want high worth customers who make their bank look good on paper. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've looked into Handelsbanken several times but decided to not apply because they don't offer anything that British banks don't offer other than branch-based banking. They are like a national Metro Bank. From what I see, some people bank with them because they like a foreign-sounding bank and not because they get anything extra: Certainly more interesting that for example Lloyds, HSBC or even Santander.0

I have accounts with many banks and would have one with Handelsbanken if they ever offered something that I would be interested in. I am not holding much hope that this will happen.0
