in Credit cards
The AA have wrote to ask me for certified copies of 4 different types of ID as a part of a credit card application I made (on top of me emailing a copy of my driving license during the initial online application).
Is that a standard anti-money laundering process for them, or don't they like me for some reason?

The AA card is provided by BoI, who are not great at certain aspects of providing cards. Mainly the customer contact and running the credit card bits.
It's not personal.0 -
I had the same when I applied for an AA card. Decided not to proceed.0

Don't acquiesce to their over-the-top and idiotic demands. Simply tell them to shove their card .... The more people do this, sooner or later they may see the error of their ways.0 -
It's already in the bin0

I was disappointed by the demands too, so when they called to chase up I confirmed they wanted all four pieces and not just the proof of income; when she confirmed that I told her to cancel my application as it just wasn't going to happen.
I wish that this had been made clear during the application process (or by the MSE recommendation), as I'd not have bothered applying.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -

Sensible. The problem is, of course, they will have already smacked you up with a hard search of the CRAs' files. If, as you suggest, they were to tell people up front about their bum requirements, it would be possible to avoid damage to your ability to get other credit.0 -
Same has just happened to me. I only applied due to the incentive offered on Topcashback
Of all the credit cards I've applied for over the years I've never had such onerous requests. Why can't they just verify my identity online in the same way that all the other companies clearly can.
A credit search for nothing. They definitely should be made to make all these requirements clear during the application process.0 -
Same has happened with me, and I am not going to proceed. Concern I have though is whether the application will appear on or affect my credit rating (I don't have a bad credit rating but don't want to incur one on the back of BoI muppets) - anybody know?0

The search will appear on your files.0

I have raised this issue and warned people about this about a few months ago.

Unfortunately some people working in banking and finance industry are incompetent, lazy and as some of people have mentioned idiots.
There are a lot of evidence the same people apply for the same products. The institution like AA are asking a bunch of paper works. The same people apply for the same product with other banks at approximately the same time they get instant approve and all of identification, etc are done electronically.0
